Characterful bathroom renovation in Hyde Park Gardens, London

Hyde Park Gardens Bathroom

Location:  Hyde Park, London

Project:  Residential Bathroom Renovation

Services: Bathroom Design, Material Specification, Joinery Design

Status:  Completed

This London bathroom was designed around a richer, more characterful material palette, moving away from the neutral finishes often associated with contemporary bathrooms.

The design is anchored by Claybrook's Mediterrano Molasses glazed wall tile. Its deep tobacco tone and handcrafted variation bring warmth and depth to the room, with a surface that changes subtly as the natural light moves through the space.

Aged brass fittings, Viola stone and walnut introduce further warmth, creating a material palette that feels considered rather than overly decorative.

The bespoke walnut vanity was designed with a traditional profile and finished with brass hardware. Above the toilet, two floating Viola stone shelves with custom ogee edges echo the vanity top while providing practical storage.

A classic chequerboard marble floor introduces pattern and contrast without competing with the deeper wall tile. An antique mahogany cabinet adds another layer, bringing genuine age, patina and craftsmanship into the contemporary bathroom.

The result is a bathroom that combines contemporary functionality with traditional references, natural materials and carefully resolved details. It is a characterful space where the materials are allowed to do the work.
